Yeongju has followed all the rules: go to school, marry a good man, build a respectable career. But then it all falls apart. In a bold move, Yeongju walks away from her high-powered job and her old life to pursue her dream: opening a bookstore.
In the charming neighborhood of Hyunam-dong, surrounded by books, Yeongju creates a sanctuary. Her shop becomes a haven for a colorful cast of characters: a lonely barista, an unhappily married coffee roaster, and a writer who recognizes something special in Yeongju. Each of them has their own set of disappointments and regrets, but together they discover that the Hyunam-dong Bookshop is more than just a place—it’s where they learn to embrace life again.
Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop is a tender, uplifting story about healing, second chances, and the transformative power of books. It’s a heartwarming reminder that it’s never too late to rewrite your own story.

PJM –
Beautiful, happy, kind, and humane story of a lovely bookshop with wonderful people. A place where everybody would know your name.
Nunu Kidane –
What a lovely book of warmth and comfort that moves steadily between characters trying to figure out life. Beautiful, enjoyed reading it. When I wasn’t reading about the characters, I was thinking about them.
Daveo –
I was excited for this book, but it didn’t really hold me. It is well written and I’m sure most people will enjoy it. But it just didn’t connect with me.
