The Housemaid’s Secret by Freida McFadden

(3 customer reviews)

“Don’t go in the guest bedroom.” A shadow crosses Douglas Garrick’s face as his fingers linger on the door. “My wife… she’s very ill.” As he continues giving me the tour of their stunning penthouse apartment, I can’t shake the terrible feeling I have about the woman behind that closed door. But I can’t risk losing this job—not when it’s the only thing standing between me and my darkest secret.

Description

Finding an employer who doesn’t pry into my past is rare, so I’m grateful the Garricks offered me a position cleaning their luxurious penthouse, complete with breathtaking city views, and preparing gourmet meals in their immaculate kitchen. I can lay low here, stay out of sight, and bide my time until I get what I need.

It seems perfect. Almost. But I’ve yet to meet Mrs. Garrick or see inside the guest bedroom. I keep hearing her crying, and I notice strange bloodstains on her white nightgowns when I do laundry. One day, curiosity gets the best of me, and I knock on the door. When it quietly swings open, what I find inside changes everything.

That’s when I make a promise. I’ve been in this situation before, and I know how to protect Mrs. Garrick while keeping my own secrets safe.

Douglas Garrick has done something unforgivable. He will pay. The only question now is: how far am I willing to go?

This explosive and mind-bending sequel to the international sensation and New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller The Housemaid will keep you glued to the pages late into the night. Fans of The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose, The Woman in the Window, and Gone Girl won’t be able to put it down!

McFadden has a knack for unexpected twists, and this is no exception. This second book of the series was a fun read.

  2. Callisea Campbell

I was debating to read this book but I really enjoyed the story, it was a fast paced this book is good for in-between reads or you just looking for a quick read. I never saw the twisted coming I thought it may have been predicted based on how the first one was but no, it kept me guess and on my toes to see the outcome. I am glad I got to see millie living a normal life, falling in love and having a relationship was really happy for that.

Millie and Enzo do it again in The Housemaid’s Secret. Expertly written and page turning. This is a really enjoyable series.
